Henley and the environment

We recognise that as major, well established institutions, both Henley Business School and the University of Reading have important roles to play in our local communities.
Our Whiteknights campus is a peaceful 130 hectare country estate, with its conservation meadows, rare tree collection and large lake. It provides a natural habitat for many varieties of birds, animals, insects and plants.
Our picturesque Greenlands site is located alongside the River Thames on the outskirts of Henley. The riverbank has unfortunately suffered from erosion in recent years so we responded with a green solution to diffuse wave energy and create a perfectly balanced habitat for wildlife. We strive to maintain the natural beauty of this site and the habitats it houses wherever possible.
'An integral part of our strategy'
At the Henley Business School we maintain strict policies to ensure that all of our operations meet or exceed the requirements of legislation and applicable best practice. We regard compliance with relevant environmental laws, and the adoption of responsible standards where no legislation exists, as an integral part of our business strategy and we are committed to considering the environmental impacts associated with our services and activities throughout their life-cycle.

Our policies and targets are widely published so that all staff can join us in ensuring that we monitor and maintain our high standards. Our targets are appraised and updated on at least an annual basis.
We seek to minimise waste, promote recycling initiatives, reduce energy consumption, reduce harmful emissions and where possible, to work with suppliers who also have and maintain an environmental policy. We will continue to raise environmental awareness within the School through the development and training of our employees and members and will communicate openly and consult with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders on relevant environmental matters.
